Marriage and divorce of Moroccans living abroad
Taking into account the particular situation of Moroccans living abroad, Moroccan law grants them facilities allowing them to get married or register a divorce without necessarily having to travel to Morocco at every step.
Marriage
Moroccans living abroad can get married either before the competent Moroccan consulate in their country of residence, or before two adouls in Morocco through a special power of attorney signed by the party living abroad and legalized at the consulate.
Divorce
Regarding divorce, Moroccans abroad can file their request with the competent Moroccan court (either where the marriage took place or where one of the parties resides in Morocco), or use mutual-consent divorce if the conditions are met, with the possibility of appointing a lawyer or representative through a consular power of attorney.
Registering the documents in the country of residence
